Google's $15bn AI Hub in Visakhapatnam with AdaniConneX and Airtel, targeting three data centre campuses totalling ~480 acres and potentially over 1GW of capacity.
Google's planned AI Hub in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh, represents one of the largest digital infrastructure investments in India's history, with a $15 billion commitment from Google for data centres and related digital infrastructure in the state. Developed in partnership with AdaniConneX and Airtel, the project involves three linked data centre campuses totalling approximately 480 acres: 120 acres in Adivivaram, 200 acres in Tarluvada, and 160 acres in the Rambilli–Achyutapuram cluster. At full build-out, the combined capacity of the campuses could exceed 1 gigawatt (GW).
The Visakhapatnam AI Hub is positioned by Google to serve as both a domestic AI infrastructure platform for Indian enterprises and a globally significant node connecting international subsea cables to Google's terrestrial and undersea fibre network. Google is developing a subsea cable gateway in Visakhapatnam to connect multiple international subsea cables, complementing existing Indian cable landing stations in Chennai and Mumbai. The project was formally announced at the Bharat AI Shakti event hosted by Google in New Delhi as part of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, with construction expected to commence in early 2027 and completion within approximately two and a half years.
The investment reflects India's strategic importance as an AI market – Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian described the project as "a landmark investment in India's digital future." The Andhra Pradesh AI Hub will support India's national AI mission and is designed to create a globally competitive AI and connectivity ecosystem in Visakhapatnam, establishing the city as a critical hub for digital infrastructure serving South Asia and beyond. AdaniConneX, the data centre joint venture between the Adani Group and EdgeConneX, is a key infrastructure partner for the project.
