Bell AI Fabric's Kamloops Phase 2 is a planned 26MW AI data centre in British Columbia, part of Bell Canada's 500MW sovereign AI infrastructure initiative powered by BC Hydro renewables.
Bell AI Fabric's Kamloops Phase 2 data centre is a planned 26MW AI-focused data centre in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, representing the second phase of Bell Canada's data centre development in the Kamloops market as part of the Bell AI Fabric initiative. The Phase 2 facility complements the existing Bell AI Fabric Groq Kamloops facility (7MW, operational) and the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) campus facility (26MW, Bell AI Fabric Kamloops TRU), collectively making Kamloops one of the most significant AI data centre markets in western Canada. The second 26MW Kamloops facility is expected to come online in 2026.
Bell AI Fabric was launched in 2024 as a major Canadian sovereign AI infrastructure initiative, initially targeting British Columbia with six data centres supported by 500MW of hydroelectric power. British Columbia's abundant, clean, and competitively priced hydroelectric electricity – provided through BC Hydro – makes the province an exceptionally attractive location for power-intensive AI data centre operations. Kamloops, located in the BC Interior approximately 350km northeast of Vancouver, provides a combination of land availability, power access, and connectivity that makes it complementary to BC's major coastal markets.
The Bell AI Fabric programme has attracted GPU infrastructure partners including Buzz HPC (Hive Digital Technologies subsidiary) and AI inference chip designer Groq, and is designed to provide Canadian enterprises, research institutions, and government agencies with sovereign, high-performance AI compute capacity within Canadian jurisdiction. Bell Canada has stated ambitions to grow revenue from AI-powered solutions to $2 billion by 2028, with the AI Fabric data centre network serving as the infrastructure foundation for this strategy alongside Bell's extensive national fibre and wireless network assets.
