Bell AI Fabric – Groq Kamloops is a 7MW AI inference data centre located in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Operated by Groq — the AI chip designer and ultra-fast inference platform provider — this facility is the first to go live under Bell Canada's AI Fabric initiative, a nation-wide programme targeting 500MW of AI compute capacity powered entirely by clean British Columbian hydroelectric energy.
Groq's proprietary Language Processing Unit (LPU) architecture delivers some of the world's fastest AI inference speeds, making the Kamloops site a strategically significant node in Canada's sovereign AI infrastructure. The facility reached its targeted June 2025 go-live date and provides immediate, in-country access to high-performance AI compute for Canadian businesses, government agencies, and research institutions.
The Kamloops data centre is one of six planned Bell AI Fabric sites across British Columbia, forming a supercluster designed to keep sensitive Canadian data onshore while competing with global hyperscale AI deployments. Bell Canada has stated an ambition to grow revenue from AI-powered solutions to $2 billion by 2028, with this facility serving as both a flagship launch site and a proof-of-concept for sovereign, environmentally responsible AI data infrastructure.
