Zimbabwe Academic and Research Network (ZARNET) data centre in Harare, hosting the national internet exchange and serving Zimbabwe's research and education sector.
ZARNET Data Centre is operated by Zimbabwe Academic and Research Network (ZARNET), the national research and education network of Zimbabwe. Based in Harare, the facility serves as the primary connectivity hub for Zimbabwe's universities, colleges, polytechnics, and research institutions, connecting them to international research networks including GÉANT and AfricaConnect.
The data centre hosts the national internet exchange point (ZINX) and provides colocation, hosting, and internet transit services to academic institutions across the country. ZARNET facilitates high-speed research collaboration by maintaining low-latency links to regional NREN partners in southern Africa, enabling joint research programmes and shared computing resources.
As Zimbabwe's digital education ecosystem grows, ZARNET Data Centre plays an increasingly important role in supporting distance learning platforms, research data repositories, and e-library services that benefit students and researchers throughout the country.
