Hive Digital Technologies operates a 32MW data center facility in Boden, in northern Sweden, one of the Nordic region's established high-density compute locations. Originally established as a GPU compute facility for Ethereum cryptocurrency mining in 2018, the site has evolved significantly in line with the company's strategic pivot toward colocation and AI infrastructure services. In June 2026, Hive received approval from the Boden Municipal Council to fully acquire the site from Bodens Utvecklings AB, cementing the facility as a long-term strategic asset.
The facility is being upgraded to Tier III standards and retrofitted with direct-to-chip liquid cooling infrastructure to support rack densities of up to 150kW, making it suitable for the latest generation of Nvidia GB300 NVL72 GPU systems. A letter of intent was signed in June 2026 with an investment-grade, sovereign Swedish technology company to lease 25MW of IT capacity for ten years, with the tenant deploying up to 10,000 Nvidia GB300 GPUs. The site benefits from three diverse dark-fibre carriers connecting to major network hubs.
Boden's location in northern Sweden offers significant infrastructure advantages: access to abundant, low-cost renewable hydroelectric power, a naturally cold climate that supports efficient cooling, and stable grid conditions. Hive Digital Technologies — listed on Nasdaq — operates under its Buzz AI cloud division across Canada and Sweden, positioning Boden as a European hub for its enterprise AI colocation strategy.
