Vantage Data Centers is developing a large-scale data centre campus in Pittsboro, Hendricks County, Indiana, approximately 24 miles northwest of Indianapolis. The company secured initial approval to rezone 618 acres, of which 285 acres will be used for the data centre development. At least three data centre buildings are planned, with one expected to be a 256MW facility and the others providing 96MW and 48MW of capacity respectively.
The campus is designed with a focus on sustainability, employing cooling systems that minimise water usage. Vantage is exploring either an air-to-air cooling or an air-cooled glycol-based system, reflecting the company's commitment to waterless or near-waterless operations. The project is expected to create 100 full-time jobs in the region.
Pittsboro sits within Hendricks County, a growing western suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana's state capital and established data centre market. The development reflects broader trends of data centre campuses moving into secondary and tertiary US markets to secure abundant land, competitive power costs, and proximity to Midwestern population centres.
