Vantage Bridgend Data Centre Campus - Bridgend, Wales
Former Ford engine plant in Bridgend, South Wales, acquired by Vantage Data Centers for a planned 10-building hyperscale data centre campus.
Vantage Data Centers has acquired the former Ford engine plant in Bridgend, South Wales, with plans to develop the 1.3 million square foot (120,000 sqm) site into a major data centre campus. The Bridgend facility lies to the west of Cardiff and connects to the M4 motorway, providing excellent transport links across South Wales and beyond.
The former Ford engine plant opened in 1980 and produced more than 22 million engines for Ford, Volvo, Jaguar, and Land Rover before closing in 2020 as part of Ford's cost-cutting restructuring. Vantage has subsequently filed plans for a ten-building campus development at the site, in what would represent one of the most significant data infrastructure investments in Wales.
The facility is situated within the South Wales AI Growth Zone, a UK government-designated area where data centre development is encouraged with business incentives and priority grid access. Vantage has an established presence in Wales through its acquisition of Next Generation Data in 2020, which operates campuses outside Cardiff and in Newport.
