T-Systems operates the Data Center Biere approximately 20 kilometers south of Magdeburg in the Bördeland region, Germany. The facility serves as a highly secure hub for Deutsche Telekom's global cloud infrastructure, providing private cloud solutions for large multinational customers and public cloud services such as the Open Telekom Cloud for small and medium-sized businesses. T-Systems guarantees the highest standards of availability, quality, and data protection in accordance with Germany's strict data protection laws.
The Biere facility is designed as a TwinCore data center, meaning all customer data is stored in parallel at T-Systems' Magdeburg data center 18 kilometers away. Should one facility fail, the other takes over seamlessly, ensuring maximum resilience. The data center is protected by modern security systems including motion detectors, strict access controls with personnel locks, chip card readers, and palm scanners, and state-of-the-art encryption techniques operating on a need-to-know principle.
The facility implements T-Systems' TÜV-certified Zero Outage quality program across the entire IT infrastructure to ensure maximum reliability. Powerful emergency power generators provide backup power for the complete facility. The IT production area has the potential to expand to 40,000 square meters, which would make it one of the largest cloud data centers in Europe.
