Silicon Foundation is developing a modular data center at the former Centre Foundry site in Wheeling, West Virginia, with 10MW available now and a 100MW long-term vision.
Silicon Foundation, a modular data centre firm founded in January 2026, has acquired a 15-acre industrial-zoned land parcel at 74 Warwood Avenue in Wheeling, West Virginia, on the site of the former Centre Foundry iron casting manufacturing plant. The proposed development will consist of a 60,000 sq ft (5,575 sqm) data centre building with an active 10MW grid connection available immediately, and a defined pathway to 20-30MW, with a longer-term vision for a 100MW campus.
Wheeling, situated on the Ohio River at West Virginia's north-western border, offers proximity to major Eastern US markets, a historically industrial land supply, and access to Appalachian energy infrastructure. Silicon Foundation's EPC contractor Stokes Inc. has provided preliminary construction timelines, including a Phase 1 10MW modular deployment targeting Q4 2026, and a Phase 2 expansion targeting Q4 2027.
Silicon Foundation's founder Val Holovach previously founded Hiveon, an automation platform for Bitcoin mining, before pivoting to traditional data centre infrastructure. The Wheeling project represents the company's flagship development and is intended to attract enterprise, cloud, and HPC tenants seeking reliable, cost-effective capacity in the Appalachian data centre corridor.
