ForHLR II was a massively parallel high-performance computing (HPC) system operated by the Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. The system comprised 1,186 compute nodes including 1,152 thin nodes with 20-core Intel Xeon E5-2660 v3 processors and 21 GPU rendering nodes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 Ti graphics cards, achieving approximately 1 PFLOPS of theoretical peak performance. ForHLR II featured 95 TB of aggregate main memory, 4.2 PB of Lustre parallel filesystem storage, and an InfiniBand 4X EDR interconnect for large-scale scientific research computing.
