The Flint Hills Digital Campus is a proposed gigawatt-scale data centre campus in the Industrial Park IV zone near Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas. Spanning up to 1,000 acres, the project is being developed by local landowner Gary Pinkston in partnership with Kanza Park Place, LLC, and announced in June 2026. The City of Emporia is reviewing a request to establish a Digital Infrastructure Overlay District (DI-O) alongside related annexation and zoning proposals.
Emporia is located approximately 100 miles southwest of Kansas City, in the heart of the Flint Hills region of Kansas. The campus plans to incorporate a combination of dedicated grid infrastructure and on-site generation to support its substantial power requirements. The project promises to attract significant private investment, support thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent roles, and materially expand the county's tax base.
Kansas's central location, affordable land, and access to wind energy resources make it an increasingly attractive destination for large-scale data centre investment. The Flint Hills Digital Campus would, if fully realised, rank among the largest data centre campuses in the United States by acreage, and represents a transformative economic development opportunity for the Emporia region.
