Firstcolo's FRA7 is a 24MW colocation facility under construction in Rosbach vor der Höhe, Germany, opening Q1 2027 as part of a €1bn expansion plan.
Firstcolo's FRA7 data centre in Rosbach vor der Höhe, Hesse, marks the Frankfurt-based colocation provider's first major expansion outside of the crowded Frankfurt city market. Construction began in June 2026, with the 24MW, 11,555 sqm facility planned to open in early 2027. FRA7 is designed to support cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing applications, and Firstcolo has committed to supplying waste heat from the facility to the local community free of charge for 20 years.
The site in Rosbach was selected for its access to grid connections that could be secured sooner than in central Frankfurt, highlighting a growing trend of data centres migrating to adjacent towns to obtain reliable power infrastructure. FRA7 is powered entirely by renewable energy sources and is part of Firstcolo's planned €1 billion investment offensive to become one of Germany's largest colocation providers.
Founded in 2006, Firstcolo currently operates two Tier III data centres in Frankfurt — Werkhaus (1,000 racks) and the AOC Data Center (390 racks). FRA7 represents a significant step-change in scale and ambition for the company, with founder and CEO Jerome Evans describing the groundbreaking as "one of the most significant moments in my career." The project reflects the broader trend of data centre growth in the DACH region, driven by strong enterprise demand for AI-capable infrastructure.
