Edged Data Centers (formerly Edged Energy) is developing an 18MW waterless-cooled data centre facility in Kansas City's Northland neighbourhood, situated at 3420 N. Arlington Avenue. The project was developed in partnership with local utility Evergy and constructed by engineering firm Burns & McDonnell. The greenfield facility was designed for a June 2024 target completion, delivering sustainable digital infrastructure to the growing Kansas City market.
The facility uses Edged's proprietary waterless cooling technology developed by sister company ThermalWorks, which eliminates the need for evaporative cooling towers and significantly reduces water consumption compared to traditional data centre cooling systems. The system supports rack densities of up to 70kW for air cooling and 200kW for liquid cooling, making it well suited for AI and high-density compute workloads.
Kansas City's Northland has attracted significant hyperscale interest, with Google, Meta, and Diode Ventures also present in the area. Edged is part of Endeavour, founded by Aligned Data Centers founder Jakob Carnemark, and operates a growing network of waterless-cooled data centres across the United States and Spain.
