Crusoe Childress Campus
Crusoe Energy is building a 1GW AI data center campus in Childress, Texas, with ERCOT grid approval, backed by Meta as a key customer.
Crusoe Energy Systems is developing a large-scale data center campus in Childress, Texas, in partnership with Lancium, the clean energy infrastructure firm. The campus sits on a site with a 1GW ERCOT-approved grid interconnect, giving it one of the largest pre-approved power capacities of any data center site in the United States. The facility is being developed to serve hyperscale AI compute demand, and Meta has reportedly signed a capacity agreement to utilise the site.
The campus leverages Texas's abundant renewable energy resources and grid infrastructure, with Lancium's expertise in flexible, behind-the-meter power utilisation contributing to its efficient operation. The site represents a key node in Crusoe's growing portfolio of AI-focused data center infrastructure across the southern United States. Crusoe is also developing a 1.2GW campus in Abilene, Texas (for Oracle and OpenAI) and a 900MW expansion for Microsoft at the same Abilene site.
The Childress development is part of Crusoe's broader strategy to contract 4.9GW+ of AI infrastructure capacity. The company targets AI training and inference workloads for the world's largest technology companies, emphasising low-cost, clean energy power and purpose-built high-density infrastructure suited to next-generation GPU compute clusters.
