Buzz HPC's 7.2MW data centre in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) serves as the operational anchor for Buzz's sovereign AI cloud platform in Canada. Acquired by parent company Hive Digital Technologies in 2025 for Buzz's exclusive use, the Toronto facility hosts Nvidia GPU clusters – including H100, A6000, A5000, A40, and H200 accelerators – and provides enterprise organisations, AI developers, and government agencies with high-performance AI compute in a Canadian sovereign environment. The Toronto facility complements the Buzz HPC 320MW AI data centre campus under development in the Greater Toronto Area, which is targeting more than 100,000 GPUs at full build-out and is expected to go live in H2 2027.
The Toronto data centre is strategically located near Canada's leading AI research institutions, including the University of Toronto (home to Geoffrey Hinton's legacy research group) and the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence to the east, with the University of Waterloo situated to the west. This proximity to Canada's academic AI ecosystem positions Buzz as a natural computing partner for domestic AI research, startups, and enterprise organisations looking to keep their workloads on sovereign Canadian infrastructure rather than relying on US-controlled hyperscaler environments.
Buzz HPC, originally known as Hive Cloud, is the AI infrastructure and GPU cloud division of Hive Digital Technologies (formerly Hive Blockchain). Through its Bell AI Fabric partnership, Buzz is expanding its sovereign AI infrastructure across multiple Canadian provinces, including British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick, building a national distributed AI compute network backed by Bell Canada's telecommunications infrastructure and Buzz's GPU expertise.
