Bitdeer is planning a 750MW data center campus on 257 acres in Shalersville Township, Ohio, with 15 buildings in partnership with Geis Cos.
Bitdeer Technologies Group, a Singapore-based crypto mining and AI infrastructure firm listed on the Nasdaq, has signed a contract to acquire approximately 257 acres at the Turnpike Commerce Center in Shalersville Township, Portage County, Ohio. The proposed campus is being developed in partnership with local real estate firm Geis Cos., which operates the wider business park. Plans call for 15 data center buildings with an initial power capacity of approximately 150MW, scalable to 750MW for the full campus.
Phase 1 of the Shalersville development comprises two data halls (each approximately 48,000 sq ft / 4,460 sqm) and a 51,500 sq ft (4,784 sqm) office building at the southwestern end of the site. A second phase would add the remaining 12 data halls. Bitdeer estimates the full campus would take approximately five years to build and cost more than $300 million excluding computing equipment, creating 30β50 permanent jobs in Phase 1 and 150β200 at full build-out.
Shalersville Township currently has a moratorium on data centre development while officials develop zoning rules for the sector; the project is therefore subject to regulatory approval. Ohio is an increasingly attractive US data centre destination due to its affordable electricity, established fibre backbone, and proximity to major Midwest population centres. The campus is designed for both cryptocurrency mining and AI/HPC workloads, consistent with Bitdeer's strategic pivot toward artificial intelligence infrastructure.
