Major 230MW AI data center in Kvandal, outside Narvik, northern Norway, developed by Aker Nscale (50/50 JV between Nscale and Aker). Originally announced as OpenAI's European Stargate project with 100,000 GPUs target by end of 2026, with Microsoft subsequently contracting 30,000 Nvidia Rubin GPUs. Secured $790m in project financing in May 2026. Powered by local hydropower; uses direct-to-chip liquid cooling with waste heat recovery for district heating. Potential expansion to 520MW total.
