SUPPORTS THE ACQUISITION OF NGD WITH £73M
Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions (MIDIS) has announced its first investment in the data center sector through supporting Vantage Data Centers in the acquisition of Next Generation Data (NGD).
In April, Vantage signed a definitive agreement to acquire NGD, a UK-based data center service provider located in the Cardiff Capital region of South Wales. The acquisition is expected to add NGD’s 180MW data center campus to Vantage’s portfolio, which comprises of an operational 72MW facility and 108MW of expansion capacity.
Bringing its first transaction to the UK data center market, MIDIS is providing £73 million of the debt facilities to support Vantage’s NGD acquisition deal, and thereby becoming one of the largest investor in Vantage’s £320 million debt financing package.
“Data centers play a key role in supporting the world’s fast-growing digital economy. We see a growing role for MIDIS in the sector by partnering with leading sponsors to meet the rising demand for connectivity and exponential data growth expected globally over the years ahead,” said Tom van Rijsewijk, Managing Director, MIDIS.
“We are pleased to support Vantage’s European growth plans, and with the partnership and unmatched operational expertise of Digital Colony, we are confident this capital will enable Vantage to deliver hyperscale capacity to customers globally.”
As announced in April, the acquisition deal will be funded with equity commitments from Digital Colony Partners and other investors in Vantage, as well as through acquisition debt financing.
“This investment and the continued support of MIDIS, further validates Vantage Europe’s growth strategy and, is a strong endorsement of the numerous benefits the Next Generation Data acquisition provides in the region. We look forward to continuing to support Vantage, one of the premier, global hyperscale data center platforms, as it continues to expand its footprint to meet the growing requirements of its customers,” said Jon Mauck, Managing Director, Digital Colony – the digital infrastructure investment arm of Colony Capital, Inc.
