TO BUILD 36MW DATA CENTER FACILITY
Data center developer, owner and operator, EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure, and Penzance, a Washington, D.C. based real estate developer, have just announced their plan to jointly develop a newly acquired 7.6 acres of land in Northern Virginia.
The newly acquired land parcel is planned for the construction of a new data center facility which is to feature 285,000 square foot of space, three-story building, and an expected capacity of about 36MW, however, the site’s plan approval process is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
“The Penzance team has prepared this site for data center development and is excited that our partner, EdgeCore, shares our vision and will apply its expertise to advance the project to its next phase. We continue to invest in and grow our Virginia portfolio across multiple product types, including data center, industrial and multifamily through our discretionary value add funds,” said Cristopher White, Managing Director of Investments, Penzance.
As announced, the new acquisition further expands EdgeCore’s data center presence in Northern Virginia, with an existing site comprising of 348,000 square feet of space, which is designed to support 54MW of critical load – located about two miles from the newly acquired land. Combined, both data center sites will provide 633,000 square feet of space and 90 MW of critical load.

Recently, EdgeCore also announced the groundbreaking of its data center campus in Santa Clara, California. Starting with the first data center, the new campus is planned to deliver 72 MW of critical load across 540,000 square feet of space on full built.
