PHASE 2 OF 160MW CAMPUS PROJECT
Vantage Data Centers has just commenced the construction of a second data center building on its West Metro Phoenix Campus located in Goodyear, Arizona.
This project marks the second phase development of Vantage’s Phoenix campus which is expected to offer a total IT capacity of 160MW across three data center buildings with more than 1 million square feet of total space when fully developed.
“As we continue to drive exponential growth across the globe, Vantage is proud to partner with officials in Goodyear to meet the increased demand for data centers in the region,” said Sam Huckaby, senior vice president, construction, North America for Vantage Data Centers.
“We appreciate Mayor Pizzillo, the City of Goodyear officials and Arizona Public Service Company (APS) for their ongoing collaborative partnership to help bring this campus to fruition. We are committed to investing in the community, and at the same time, to being a responsible corporate citizen to meet the needs of our customers while preserving precious resources in Arizona.”
This project is starting less than a year after Vantage celebrated the topping out of its first data center facility in the Phoenix Campus. Codenamed AZ1, the flagship data center facility is a single-story building that delivers up to 32MW of power capacity.
Vantage plans to invest about $1.5 billion in the development of the West Metro Phoenix Campus, and expects the additional capacity from Phase 2 to be operational in the spring of 2024 with plans to serve hyperscalers and large cloud providers.
“We are excited to see the continued expansion of Vantage Data Centers’ Arizona campus as one of the anchors within the Bullard Tech Corridor,” said Joe Pizzillo, Mayor of Goodyear, who was at the phase 2 project launch ceremony.
“Data centers serve as an economic driver for the City of Goodyear and bring significant investment and quality jobs to our city. We value the partnership we have with Vantage and appreciate their commitment to not only sustainability but also to the design of the campus that blends into the community architecturally.”
This announcement also follows the opening of Vantages first facility on its Johannesburg campus, South Africa.
