The US government is exploring ways to integrate artificial intelligence into its procurement processes, aiming to enhance efficiency and transparency across federal agencies. Recently, the General Services Administration (GSA) issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking expertise from various industry stakeholders, including suppliers, developers, and data scientists. The goal is to build an end-to-end procurement ecosystem powered by AI. As outlined in the RFI, the new platform aims to incorporate structured data, enhance lifecycle management, and deploy AI-driven chatbots with advanced data access capabilities. These advancements are expected to provide real-time analysis of government spending and improve procurement accuracy. However, challenges remain, especially with the current siloed and outdated acquisition workforce systems. The GSA plans to leverage feedback from the RFI to shape future strategies and ensure a more integrated digital ecosystem for government procurement. Responses are expected to be concise and are due by the end of August.
