ADDS 24,000 SQUARE FOOT SPACE
Data center, connectivity, and managed services provider, DataBank has just announced the completion of the expansion of its data center facility in Irvine, California.
The expansion work is stated to feature an additional 24,000 square feet (2,200 square meter) of raised floor space and 4MW of IT capacity, bringing the data center’s total capacity to 8MW of critical IT power and 57,700 square feet, at build-out.
Codenamed SNA2, the expanded data center facility is located at 17400 Von Karman Avenue in Orange County – presently housing two of DataBank’s data center. According to DataBank, this expansion project was first announced in April 2022.
“Both of our Irvine data centers are ideal for companies that need robust data center performance. By providing Tier III facilities with redundant components and distribution paths, we can assure uptime for mission-critical IT environments,” said DataBank vice president of construction, Tony Qorri.
As announced, both operated facilities were previously Zayo’s facilities which DataBank acquired in 2020. After the acquisition, the company added 44 facilities to its existing portfolio of data centers.
In October 2022, DataBank announced the opening of its data center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Codenamed SLC6, the new data center is DataBank’s sixth facility in Salt Lake City, sited on the company’s 23-acre Granite Point Campus which is located between downtown Salt Lake City and Utah’s “Silicon Slopes” in Bluffdale.
Also in California, EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure, recently announced the groundbreaking of its data center campus in Santa Clara. As announced, the new campus is planned to deliver 72 MW of critical load across 540,000 square feet of space on full built, while expecting to meet market demand and customer requirements.
CyrusOne, also recently announced its acquisition of a 57.6-acre land parcel in Loudoun County, Virginia, to further expand its data center footprint. Located near the intersection of the Dulles Greenway toll road and Belmont Ridge Road, the new land parcel is planned for the construction of new data center complex designed for hyperscale cloud providers and large-scale companies.
