Alibaba has unveiled its latest server processor, the XuanTie C950, a powerful entrant employing the RISC-V architecture. Crafted by Alibaba’s DAMO Academy, the chip promises exceptional capabilities for cloud-based servers, AI processes, advanced robotics, and edge computing. Highlighting an in-house AI acceleration engine, it natively accommodates large-scale models like Qwen3 and DeepSeek V3, heralding a new era for AI-centric CPUs. Boasting over 70 points in the SPECint 2006 benchmark, the chip delivers single-core general-purpose performance akin to Apple’s 2020 M1 chip. This revelation underscores China’s growing prowess in chip manufacturing, though large-scale production remains a challenge.
