TO DELIVER 50MW OF IT CAPACITY
Hyperscale data center provider, AirTrunk, has announced the groundbreaking of the second phase of its AirTrunk TOK2 (TOK2) data center facility in West Tokyo.
The new phase of this 110MW TOK2 facility is planned to be scalable to approximately 50 megawatts (MW) of capacity and custom built to meet the needs of its customer upon full built. As stated, the 110MW TOK2 facility, along with the East Tokyo TOK1 data center facility, will together offer over 410MW capacity and provides location diversity for AirTrunk’s hyperscale customers in the Tokyo region.
As announced, the expansion comes three months after construction commenced on the site in November 2022 – which was first announced in May 2022, and few months after the company announced the successful close of a Green Loan in Japan – planned for financing the company’s data center project in Tokyo.
“AirTrunk’s new TOK2 hyperscale data center in West Tokyo, along with TOK1 in East Tokyo, will take our total capacity in Japan to more than 410MW, giving customers the unprecedented ability to scale and grow in the Tokyo region. The facility will be delivered with AirTrunk’s trademark speed, scale, reliability, and efficiency,” said Robin Khuda, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AirTrunk.
According to AirTrunk, special guests who attended the groundbreaking ceremony include, AirTrunk Head of Japan, Norihiro Matsushita and senior executives from Daiwa House, Nihon Sekkei and Obayashi who are working with AirTrunk on the development.
Recently, AirTrunk, also announced its entry into Malaysia with plans to build new hyperscale data center facility in Johor Bahru. As announced, the new facility, which is plan to span 10.3 hectares of land while delivering more than 150MW of IT capacity, will be AirTrunk’s first data center in Malaysia and ninth in Asia Pacific and Japan, bringing its data center platform to over 1.35 gigawatts (GW) of capacity.
