A 14-STOREY DATA CENTER BUILDING

Digital infrastructure and telecommunication company, OPTAGE, Inc., has just announced that it plans to build new data center facility in Osaka, Japan.

Codenamed OPTAGE Sonezaki Data Center, the new data center is proposed to be 14 stories facility which is to be sited on a 24,109 Square Feet IT space located in Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan and it is expected to be operational in January 2026.

As announced, the new data center will be the company’s fifth facility in the city and it is planned to be a carrier-neutral data center facility with the expectation of delivering features including low latency, green energy, air conditioning system, safety and security.

“Until now, OPTAGE has operated multiple data centers in Osaka. This new data center location is close to access points of popular public cloud and Internet exchange and can communicate with low latency. Because the data center is carrier-neutral, services such as cloud, IX (Internet Exchange), and carriers are widely available,” said OPTAGE Media Personnel.

Recently, STACK Infrastructure, together with ESR Group Limited (ESR) announced a joint venture to develop a 72MW data center campus in Osaka, Japan. As announced, the new facility is to be operated under the STACK brand and will include three buildings, while the companies planned to start the construction of the first building in the fourth quarter of 2023, which is expected to be ready for service in Q2 2025.

Also in Japan, Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology arm of Alibaba Group, recently announced the launch of its third data center facility in Tokyo, further expanding its global presence to 86 availability zones in 28 regions. As announced, the new data center facility will provide a range of cloud computing products including storage, network, elastic computing, security, database to developer services as well as support the growing digital transformation demands from customers in the country.
