EXPANDING ITS MIDDLE EAST FOOTPRINT

Google Cloud has just announced that it plans to bring a new Google Cloud Region to Kuwait, to further support its growing customer base in the Middle East.

The new the Kuwait region is planned to serve local customers like the Government of Kuwait and Alshaya Group when operational, as well as make it easier for organizations to serve their own users faster and securely.

“Through our strategic partnership with Google Cloud, the State of Kuwait will continue to make great strides towards digital transformation, a main pillar of our New Kuwait vision (Kuwait 2035),” said H.E. Mr. Mazin Saad Alnahedh, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Affairs.

“Our alliance with Google Cloud will have significant benefits for Kuwait and will provide a major boost to achieving the country’s socio-economic priorities, including promoting efficiencies in government, enhancing healthcare and education, and diversifying the economy.”

This new Google Cloud Region in Kuwait now joins the Google Cloud global network, bringing it current operations to 35 regions and 106 zones, around the world, while supporting customers of all sizes and across different industries including retail, media & entertainment, financial services, healthcare and the public sector.

“Alshaya is a pioneer and leader in our industry, and the scale and expansion of Google Cloud’s platform will further enable us to deliver safe and reliable services to customers across the Middle East and Africa,” said Chady Younan, Director of Data, Analytics, BI & Data Science at Alshaya Group.

Recently, Google Cloud also announced the opening of its new GCP (Google Cloud Platform) Region which is located in Tel Aviv, Israel. The opening of this region in Israel follows the selection of Google Cloud by the Israeli government last year – to provide cloud services to government ministries, further enabling the government, and private companies operating in regulated industries.
