AN EIGHT-STORY DATA CENTER FACILITY

Digital infrastructure company, Equinix, Inc, has announced its footprint expansion to Indonesia through the development of a new data center in Jakarta.

With plans to invest approximately $74 million in this project, the new Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data center will be an eight-story facility which is designed to provide more than 1,600 cabinets and over 5,300 square meters of colocation space when fully built.

“Having a presence in Indonesia allows Equinix to provide digital infrastructure that enables local businesses to tap growth opportunities abroad and support global organizations looking to access the expanding Indonesian digital economy. Scheduled to open by the second half of 2024, the new IBX data center is expected to serve local and foreign businesses operating in Indonesia, as well as boost the country’s digital infrastructure objectives in line with goals outlined in the Indonesia Digital Roadmap 2021–2024.

In Latin America, Equinix recently announced the completion of its deal to acquire four data centers in Chile from Empresa Nacional De Telecomunicaciones S.A. (Entel), and further signed an agreement to acquire one additional data center in Peru, also from Entel. With adjustments in offer and target facilities, the closing value for the five data centers (including the Peru facility) was approximately US$735 million.

In Africa, Equinix announced the completion of its deal to acquire West African data center and connectivity solutions provider MainOne, following its agreement as announced last year. Acquired at US$320 million, MainOne’s assets includes four operational data centers which deliver more than 64,000 gross square feet of space, supported by 570,000 square feet of additional land for future expansions.
