ITS LARGEST CAMPUS IN THE COUNTRY

Scala Data Centers has announced the construction of its new data center campus which is located in Lampa, Santiago metropolitan area, Chile.

Following the reception of the environmental license for constructing the new campus, Scala plans to deliver a total of 120MW power capacity through this facility. Joining two other existing sites in Chile, the company also announced that it will invest about US$400 million in the first phase of these 3 Chilean campuses.

“The construction of a data center close to the submarine cable arrival site will guarantee unprecedented scale and quality of connectivity between Latin America, Asia and Oceania, massively contributing to enabling the region’s digital infrastructure,” said Marcos Peigo, CEO of Scala.

“And in a scenario in which 5G accelerates the deployment of various services and applications that use high volume of data and require low latency, such as the metaverse, Internet of Things (IoT), telemedicine, autonomous cars, among others, it is something even more expressive.”

Scala’s first Chilean data center campus is sited in the municipality of Curauma, Valparaíso area, which is now under construction and expected to deliver 45MW total capacity with the first data center building scheduled to be completed in March 2023. The company has also started the development of its other data center located in Santiago, with a planned total capacity of 80MW.

About a month ago, Scala launched its new hyperscale data center located in the Tambore campus, the company’s complex in Greater Sao Paulo, Brazil. Codenamed SGRUTB04, the new data center offers a total capacity of 18MW with about 140,000 square feet of total built area across seven floors and four data halls, adding up to over 1,500 racks.

Through its latest data center campus in Chile, Scala plans to deliver an initial capacity of 30MW which is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2024, with an anchor tenant already in place.
