A 2MW DATA CENTER FACILITY

Connectivity and data center service provider, Neterra, has officially opened its second data center building in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.

The new Tier III data center has an area of over 1,400 square meters across 4 building levels with a total of 2MW power capacity, Neterra also assures customers of 100% redundancy of services and connectivity, round-the-clock security, uninterruptible power supply and air conditioning, on-site maintenance, and security at the new facility.

“Neterra’s new data center is an important link in the critical infrastructure of Bulgaria and Southeast Europe. This is one of the places where the networks of Western telecom operators connect to the Middle East and Asia. Neterra’s importance in this chain of security has always been highly valued,” said Neven Dilkov, founder and CEO of Neterra.

Named Sofia Data Center 2 (SDC 2), the new data center is located next to Neterra’s first data center in Sofia – SDC 1. Hence, new customers of SDC 2 are expected to have access the operational business and telecommunications infrastructure in SDC 1.

Neterra’s data center portfolio also include two other Bulgarian locations – Stolnik (about 20 minute drive from Sofia) and Ruse (close to the border with Romania).

Some Other Data Center Developments Across Europe in the Past 8 Weeks

Oracle announced the opening of its new cloud region which is located in La Courneuve, Paris, its second region in France, bringing the company’s global portfolio to include a total of 38 cloud regions.

Green Mountain also announced the expansion of its existing data center facility at Rjukan in Norway with the addition of 4.5MW capacity.

Data center service provider, Orange, recently announced the commissioning of its two new data centers, located in Amilly, Centre-Val de Loire and Val-de-Reuil, Normandy, both in France.

Northern Europe data center operator, DEAC, announced that it is building a new 10MW data center in Riga, Latvia, expected to be a sustainable data center in the Baltic region which will have a capacity to accommodate up to 1,000 server racks and meet international Tier III standards.

In May, Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology arm of Alibaba Group, announced the launch of its third data center in Frankfurt, Germany, expected to support the digital infrastructure demands from customers across Europe.
