FEW DAYS AFTER THE OPENING OF OHIO REGION

Google Cloud has announced the opening of a new region in Dallas, Texas, bringing its second region to the central United States.

The new Dallas region is also the eleventh Google Cloud region in North America, and the company’s 34th region globally. The new facility provides access to Google Cloud’s set of products, including Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Persistent Disk, CloudSQL, and Cloud Identity.

“Now open to Google Cloud customers, the Dallas region provides you with the speed and availability you need to innovate faster and build high-performing applications that cater to the needs of nearby end users,” said Stacy Trackey Meagher, Managing Director, Central Region, Google Cloud.

“We’ve heard from many of you that the availability of your workloads and business continuity are increasingly top priorities. The Dallas region gives you added capacity and the flexibility to distribute your workloads across the U.S.”

This announcement closely follows the opening of Google Cloud’s data center region in Columbus, Ohio, expected to enable workload distribution across Central, Midwest, and Eastern US. The new Columbus region offers immediate access to three zones or data centers, and marks the second Google cloud region to the Midwest, the 10th region to North America, and the 33rd region globally.

About 2 months ago, Google announced that it plans to invest about $9.5 billion in its offices and data centers across the US in 2022. As announced, this investment will be spread across Google’s offices and data center projects within the US which include sites in the South, East, Midwest, West and Central Regions.

Backed by its investment plans, Google Cloud reaffirms that it is expected to announce and open more regions this year.

In September 2021, Google Cloud also opened a new region in Toronto, Canada with the immediate offering of its Cloud Platform (GCP) products.
