ONE YEAR AFTER ACQUIRING THE FACILITY

Data center owner and operator Element Critical, has announced the completion of its Houston One data center expansion, following the sell-out of the pre-existing four data halls.

The expansion of this Tier III data center delivers two newly completed data halls, extending the original building with the addition of 20,000 square foot colocation space. Houston One data center expansion was first announced in September, 2021, with plans to develop two new 5MW data halls.

The new data halls in Houston One are expected to accommodate configurable power (N, N+1, or 2N), and feature high-density solutions ranging up to 50 kW, immersion-cooling, and/or liquid to chip deployments.

Element Critical acquired Houston One facility from Skybox which is located precisely at 22000 Franz Rd, Katy – west of Houston, Texas. Upon acquisition, the campus had a load capacity of 26MW, and featured up to 40,000 square feet of expansion space.

Few months ago, Element Critical also announced the provision of 100% renewable energy at its Houston and Austin colocation data centers, which can be leveraged by Houston One data center customers.

The recent green power portfolio was achieved through the establishment of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Element Critical and NextEra Energy Resources, LLC., a wind and solar energy supplier. Based on this agreement, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources will deliver green power from an ERCOT-connected, Texas-based wind energy center to Element Critical’s Houston and Austin facilities.
