PLANS TO DELIVER AN INITIAL POWER OF 4MW

Colocation, interconnection, and cloud services provider DataBank, has just announced the ground-breaking of its new data center IAD3 in Northern Virginia, a site adjacent to its current Ashburn facility.

As designed, IAD3 is a 200,000 square foot data center that will offer an initial power of 4MW with the ability to deliver up to 40MW of power upon full development of the site.

“DataBank is investing extensively across our portfolio nationwide, and IAD3 represents a tremendous opportunity for our clients to take advantage of Ashburn’s location and proximity to 70% of the world’s Internet traffic. This Ashburn data center more than doubles our colocation footprint in Loudoun County, providing a high-quality colocation solution for cloud, content, technology and Fortune 500 customers,” said Raul Martynek, CEO of DataBank.

Scheduled to go live in 2023, IAD3 will leverage existing fiber connectivity and other technical resources in Northern Virginia as well as target the needs of enterprises, hyperscale cloud providers, and content providers in the region.

This announcement is coming just few days after DataBank announced the opening of its new Tier III data center MSP3, located in Brooklyn Park, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 86,000 square foot facility provides an initial power capacity of 1.5MW and can scale to 3MW in the first data hall.

Few weeks earlier, DataBank announced the expansion of its KC3 facility in Kansas City, establishing two new data halls (Hall 2 and Hall 3) on the facility. As announced, the expansion of this Kansas City KC3 facility includes the construction of a 9,300 square feet data center building known as Data Hall 2 and another data center building – Data Hall 3, which spans 8,050 square feet.

For more expansion, DataBank recently announced the acquisition of a 34-acre land in Orangeburg, New York for the development of a new 30MW data center campus which will be its New York City metro area’s fifth data center.
