ITS SECOND ACQUISITION IN TEXAS
Data center services provider Element Critical, has just announced the expansion of its Texas data center footprint with the acquisition of a 62,000 square foot data center in Austin.
Codenamed ‘Austin One’, the acquired data center is designed to support 7MW of critical IT load, providing Element Critical the capability to support its long-term customers in the Austin data center market. Sited on a 7-acre campus which is located in the northern part of Austin, the facility currently houses over 60 enterprise.
“Texas businesses are ready for evolved digital services. We are focused on establishing a strong foothold in the Austin market. Together with our state-of-the-art Houston facility, we can support production and Disaster Recovery environments between the two urban centers from one platform,” said Ken Parent, CEO of Element Critical.
As announced, Austin One contains a newly completed 2MW data hall which is expected to support high-density racks and enable Element Critical offer customizable power configurations to customers. Element Critical also plans to add approximately 6MW of utility capacity to the data center facility over the next 1-2 years.
For the Austin transaction, Element Critical and its investors were advised by the law firms of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, and Shearman & Sterling LLP while Bank Street Group LLC served as exclusive financial advisor to the Seller.
Marking the company’s second data center acquisition in Texas, Austin One joins Element Critical’s Houston One facility which was acquired in March. Located precisely at 22000 Franz Rd, Katy – west of Houston, the data center spans 98,000 square feet with up to 40,000 square feet of expansion space.
In January 2019, Element Critical launched into Chicago with the acquisition of two data centers in suburban Wood Dale, Illinois. This positioned the company across three markets, following its operations in Silicon Valley and Northern Virginia. These data centers expanded Element Critical’s portfolio with the addition of 111,000 square feet of raised floor and up to 15MW of available power capacity.
