ITS SECOND SILICON VALLEY DATA CENTER

Wholesale data center developer and operator Prime Data Centers, has today announced the expansion of its presence across Silicon Valley with the development of a new 9MW data center, located on Martin Avenue in Santa Clara, California.

Set to commence construction this year, this three-story data center facility will become Prime’s second Silicon Valley data center, designed to deliver approximately 80,000 square feet of purpose-built data center space, 9MW of critical capacity with N+1 redundancy and provide support for multi-carrier connectivity.

“Santa Clara is one of the most desired data center locations globally due to its proximity to the vibrant and structurally important San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, the relatively affordable power rates from Silicon Valley Power (SVP) are very advantageous,” said Jeff Barber, EVP Sales and Business Development at Prime.

“Yet, it is difficult to find wholesale data center space in this area because of the scarcity and expense of available real estate, and the difficulty of obtaining guarantees that the power is available to service the new capacity. Prime has such assurances from SVP in hand today.”

The new Prime’s Martin Avenue data center which is available for pre-lease is located about one mile from the company’s flagship 9MW Santa Clara data center, the four-story Silicon Valley facility which was recently pre-leased to Cyxtera and currently under construction.

This announcement is coming less than a month after Macquarie Capital formed a $5 billion capital investment partnership with Prime Data Centers, to enable Prime Data Centers accelerate the development of its 400MW project plan across the United States and Europe. This partnership deal is expected to span 10 years with Macquarie further providing its infrastructure investing and development capabilities to Prime.

As scheduled, the newly announced Silicon Valley data center project is expected to be customer-ready in the second quarter of 2022.
