INCREASING CAPACITY IN ITS CURRENT MARKETS

China-headquartered cloud services company Tencent Cloud, has announced the launch of its four new Tier-III data centers or cloud availability zones in Bangkok, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

With the addition of the four new data centers, Tencent Cloud now boasts of a portfolio that contains 27 operational cloud regions and 66 availability zones globally. As an expansion of its current market capacity, the new facilities marks the opening of Tencent Cloud’s second availability zones (AZ2) in Bangkok, Frankfurt and Tokyo and the third zone (AZ3) in Hong Kong.

“The cloud industry is quickly evolving and growing, making Tencent Cloud look forward to further demonstrating its commitment to provide customers with more diverse cloud products as well as stronger redundancy and backup options,” said Poshu Yeung, Senior Vice President, Tencent Cloud International.

“The launch of the new IDCs in Bangkok, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Tokyo at the same time is a significant development in our strategy to rapidly and efficiently expand our international portfolio. We are also planning to have over 30% growth in terms of our IDCs all over the world by end of this year.”

The launch of the new data centers or availability zones further represent the company’s effort towards building robust growth strategies in terms of global infrastructure.

In line with its growth strategy, Tencent Cloud opened its second availability zone in Korea in Q4 2020, followed by its first data center in Indonesia, as well as the third availability zone in Singapore about 3 months ago. As further announced, the company is set to soon launch its second Indonesian data center. Also scheduled to open later this year is the company’s first cloud data center in Bahrain which was announced in March 2021 with the signing of an MoU with the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB).
