ITS SECOND LONDON DATA CENTER

Data center services provider Iron Mountain Incorporated, has today announced the expansion of its London and EMEA data center footprint through the development of a new 27MW facility in Slough.

As the company’s second data center in the London region, the new facility is codenamed LON-2 and will bolster the operations of Iron Mountain’s LON-1 facility which was recently expanded with the addition of two 2MW data halls to now offer a total load capacity of 9.1MW.

“We are excited to announce new colocation opportunities at our second data center in this highly connected market as well as adding new capacity at our LON-1 data center, which continues to be in high demand,” said Eric Boonstra, Vice President and General Manager, Europe at Iron Mountain Data Centers.

“Like other Iron Mountain data centers, our Slough data centers are well-suited for Enterprise, Hyperscale and Cloud organizations seeking a highly interconnected data center partner with industry-leading compliance and security.”

Sited in the Slough Trading Estate, LON-2 is designed as a three-story, carrier-neutral facility that will be powered by 100% renewable energy. Spanning a total area of 25,000 square meter, LON-2 is expected to support up to 27MW of IT load capacity equally distributed across three data halls of 9MW each.

Currently, Iron Mountain global data center portfolio consists of 15 operational facilities across thirteen markets and three continents. The company’s data center assets further include leasable capacity, land, and buildings held for future development, which can enable Iron Mountain to support about 445 megawatts of IT capacity upon full build.

This announcement also follows the closing of the agreement between Iron Mountain and India colocation data center provider Web Werks to form a joint data center venture, for which Iron Mountain is expected to invest $150 million over the next two years and anticipated to become the majority investor in the venture after the investment period.
