A FACILITY THAT BELONGED TO T5 DATACENTERS

Data center developer and operator Serverfarm LLC, has just announced its acquisition of an 117,500 square foot data center located in El Segundo, a metro city in Los Angeles.

Codenamed LAX1, the newly acquired data center belonged to T5 Datacenters which houses an American multinational conglomerate holding company NantWorks, as its long-term partner and tenant. The carrier-neutral facility features an On-site substation and boasts of providing up to 12MW of critical power capacity and a total power of 22MVA.

“Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been laser focused on delivering much-needed capacity to our clients and partners in the most efficient way possible,” said Avner Papouchado, CEO of Serverfarm.

“The latest phase of our data center acquisition strategy is helping to answer demand for efficiently managed colocation space in a Los Angeles site that’s a launching pad to APAC and the rest of the world. We’re proud to offer our world-class InCommand DMaaS solution in a community that’s home for myself and many of our team members.”

According to Serverfarm, this acquisition aligns with its sustainability mission. The company intends to modify the Los Angeles facility, applying its Data Center Management as a Service (DMaaS) solution, which is powered by InCommand to manage enterprise workloads.

The company also intend to take advantage of the data center’s close proximity to movie production studios, major aerospace and defense contractors, research and development companies and corporate campuses. Serverfarm adds that the Los Angeles data center is also connected to Tier 1 and dark fiber providers.

In November 2019, ServerFarm acquired a 194,000-Square-Foot data center in Amsterdam SF AMS1, which offered immediate space and power in Amsterdam City Center.  SF AMS1 marks ServerFarm’s second major European location after SF LON1 in Feltham, London.

In June 2020, the company also completed an expansion project on its Toronto data center, adding 14MW of new critical capacity.

Since its latest growth in Europe and additional expansion in Toronto, the acquisition of LAX1 further expands Serverfarm’s portfolio of owned and managed assets to over 100 locations across more than 40 countries.
