SECURED PERMISSIONS TO CONSTRUCT FIVE DATA CENTERS

Nordic data center provider DigiPlex, has just announced the expansion of its footprint with the development of a new data center campus in Denmark.

Located in Høje-Taastrup municipality to the west of Copenhagen, the campus is designed to sit on the company’s newly acquired 110,000 square meter plot with access to renewable power supply, as well as onsite water.  DigiPlex has also secured planning and building permissions to construct five data centers for the new campus site.

“We are seeing huge interest in sustainable data center development in the Nordic region and continue to invest to capitalize on this trend. The acquisition of this major plot, plus the Norwegian land acquisition we announced last month, further strengthens DigiPlex ability to rapidly meet the need for data center capacity from hyperscalers as well as local and international businesses requiring ultra-sustainable, cost effective colocation facilities,” said Wiljar Nesse, CEO of DigiPlex.

“Through close collaboration with all parties we already have power agreements, access to water, and all necessary building regulation approvals in place. We are ready to start campus construction and are already in discussion with a number of potential international customers.”

This DigiPlex data center site marks the company’s second location in Denmark and as part of its environmental sustainability commitment, the new facility will feature waste heat recovery technology to feed into the existing district heating system. As part of the agreement, DigiPlex will also build a lake to collect rainwater for use in cooling its planned five data centers on the campus, as well as contribute to a storm-water basin to benefit the local community.

This will benefit the whole community,” said Michael Ziegler, Mayor of Høje-Taastrup.

As announced, DigiPlex has secured electricity supply for the first phase of the campus, with an option to increase the supply up to 100MW as the campus grows.

In 2020, DigiPlex opened a new 3MW data center in Fetsund and another new 6MW data center in Hobøl. As part of its expansion in the Norwegian region, the company acquired a 60,000 square meter land few weeks ago in Treklyngen industrial park, Ringerike, a municipality near Oslo, Norway.
