TARGETING CUSTOMERS ACROSS CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE

IBM has announced an expansion of its cloud footprint, with the launch of a new IBM Cloud services which will be delivered from two data centers located near Warsaw, Poland.

With a plan to serve banking, telecommunications and government institutions in Poland and across Central and Eastern Europe, the expansion of IBM data centers in Poland is expected to address clients’ need for security, high availability and resiliency, as well as meet data sovereignty requirements for enterprises.

“As more companies are looking for efficient and scalable technology access, they are moving their workloads to IBM Cloud, the industry’s most secure and open,” said Jarosław Szymczuk, General Manager, IBM Poland and Baltic countries.

“At the same time, clients including banks, telcos and insurance providers are mainly looking for solutions and services that can meet their business goals and satisfy regulatory and compliance requirements around security, data privacy and data sovereignty. That is why IBM has extended its hybrid cloud capabilities in Poland to let client take advantage of clous while deploying workloads close to where their mission-critical data resides.”

The company’s Managed Extended Cloud location in Poland is available as a shared multitenant or dedicated infrastructure as a service (IaaS) for x86 and IBM Power Systems workloads with supplemental managed services covering operating system, middleware and applications.

This announcement is coming less than a month after IBM entered into a partnership agreement with OVHcloud and Atempo in the development of a Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering, dedicated to meet European enterprise and public institution security, sovereignty and resilience needs. The EU-based SaaS solution will be based on IBM Enterprise Tape technology and an Atempo software stack hosted and operated by OVHcloud in four new dedicated data centers that are all located in France.

According to IBM, companies like Golden Sand Bank and Carrefour Poland are already running their workloads on IBM hybrid cloud in the region.
