MARKS BLUEBIRD’S SECOND DATA CENTER

Data center and connectivity provider Bluebird Network, has just announced its acquisition of ColoHub Data Center located in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Previously owned by Geneseo Communications, the Iowa data center is sited between metros such as Chicago, Cedar Rapids, St. Louis, Des Moines, Champaign-Urbana, Peoria and Kansas City. This data center is therefore, expected to supports Bluebird’s northern customers, providing primary solutions and disaster recovery solution for existing Bluebird Underground Data Center customers.

Now called Bluebird Quad Cities Data Center, the newly acquired facility marks the company’s second data center and its first above-ground data center. This facility is poised to help Bluebird’s data center customers move their applications closer to the edge and establish a disaster recovery location for the company’s underground data center in Springfield, Missouri.

Expanding our data center offerings, fortified now with a second facility, is part of our mission to empower businesses and offer a total communications solution,” said Michael Morey, President and CEO of Bluebird Network.

This acquisition follows Bluebird Network’s completion of its $11.5 million expansion in its underground data center at Springfield, Missouri. This Tier III data center now features a total of about 29,000 square feet of white space with the expansion project delivering around 11,500 square feet.

As a connectivity service provider, Bluebird also completed a 4.5-mile fiber expansion within the city of Hannibal, Missouri in November last year. The buildout connects 16 small cell towers in the area in support of a 5G network and brings the company’s total number of fiber miles in Hannibal to 13.5.
