A Netherlands data center providers’ merger between The Datacenter Group (TDCG) and NLDC (Netherlands Data Centers) has just announced NorthC as its new brand name.

TDCG and NLDC were merged in July 2019 by their parent firm, the DWS investment division of Deutsche Bank, creating a group with ten data centers in the Netherlands.

Deutsche Bank’s DWS acquired NLDC in May last year from Dutch telecom company KPN. This transaction earned DWS six cloud and carrier neutral data centers which are located in Aalsmeer, Almere, Eindhoven, Groningen, Oude Meer (Schiphol) and Rotterdam.

As announced, the new NorthC serves both large organizations, government institutions, cloud and IT providers as well as small businesses. With the new brand, the firm said it aims to grow into a leading position in the Netherlands when it comes to regional data center services.

“Our new name North’ on the one hand emphasizes this regional character, whilst the ‘C’ represents our core values: customers, connectivity, cloud, and content,” said Alexandra Schless, CEO of NorthC.

“We see that an increasing number of customers is looking for a reliable local data center provider that offers the possibility of doing business with other regional businesses, provides fast connections, but also offers access to international IT providers, networks, and cloud services.”

NorthC now have ten interconnected data centers across Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Delft, Utrecht, Groningen, and Eindhoven. The firm adds that the locations are linked through a fast connection: the Region Connect Ring, allowing customers from each region to have access to different ecosystems.

Together, the ten locations have a surface area of almost 80,000 square meters and a power capacity of 65 megawatts.

Just last month, the German global IT services and consulting company T-Systems, announced that it is collaborating with NLDC to develop a second European Open Telekom Cloud infrastructure in Amsterdam.
